This year, we have a few changes that must be made to accommodate recommended guidelines for hosting events given our current health crisis.

First off, the good news, we will be hosting an in-person Brainy Day Trail Run on August 15 in Nunica, Michigan. We’ve had to make some modifications, but we feel really good with what we’ve put in place. Basically there are two opportunities for you to help the Brainy Day Fund this year; one in-person event and a new virtual event which includes a ranked 8k with top finisher and age group awards.

IF YOU PRE-REGISTERED before April 1, you have a few options to consider before June 1:

Option 1: Participate in the In-Person Event

This year’s race, we have to cut back the length to just the 5k. If you signed up for the 10k only or both races, read this to see your options. There will be no mass start at 7:30am. Instead, we will be starting the race at 7am using a time-trial format, read this post to see what that means. If you are planning on attending the in-person race, you don’t have to do anything with your registration.

Prior to the event, you will receive your race packet in the mail which will include your bib, timing chip, and swag. There will be no in-person packet pickup this year. Medals will only be awarded for those who finish the race.

Option 2: Transfer to the 2020 Brainy Day Virtual Run

September was designated by the United States Congress as National Hydrocephalus Awareness Month. This year, we are partnering with the Michigan Pediatric Hydrocephalus Foundation to host this new virtual experience. If you decide to do the Virtual Run instead of the In-Person event, we will allow a free transfer to the virtual event. To be considered for a free transfer, you must make a decision by June 1.

There are two options for running the Virtual:

  • Ranked 8k Race: Overall and Age Group Awards will be based on uploaded time.
  • “Any Distance, Any Activity”: It’s your choice on what you want to do; golf, kayak, SUP, go for a hike, go skydiving. You choose how far you want to go and what you do. If you choose to support one of our charities, a Top Fundraiser will be awarded for each.

You can learn more about our virtual race online. Click here.

Please send a note to info@brainydayfund.org if you plan to transfer to the Brainy Day Virtual Run/Walk.

Option 3: Defer to 2021

We understand you may not want to run this year and you may not like virtual runs. If that is the case, you can defer to next year. Deferments will only be allowed through June 1.

Please send a note to info@brainydayfund.org if you plan to defer to 2021.
