2019 Brainy Day Trail Run Planning Committee
The Brainy Day Trail Run is managed entirely by volunteers. Each year, our planning committee spends countless hours organizing the race ensuring that runners enjoy their race experience. Rest assured, the fees you pay to participate in The Brainy Day Trail Run is never used to compensate our committee members.
Kevin joined the Brainy Day committee in 2013, taking over as Race Director for the 2018 race. When he’s not volunteering for Brainy Day, he works as a Media Buyer for Synergi Media in Zeeland. With Kevin’s background in marketing and his enthusiasm for running, we have been able to expand our digital reach and attract new runners to the event.
Associate Race Director
Kathryn joined the Brainy Day committee as part of the 2018 planning group. She is an active member of the Grand Haven Running Club and is passionate in making Brainy Day a success. Her running adventures have brought her all across the United States. When she’s not planning, she works as a Civil Engineer in Muskegon.
Alana, a champion marathon runner, joined the Brainy Day team in 2014. Joining her husband Kevin on the committee, she brings a wealth of knowledge to the committee as a lifelong runner. She is also a Physical Therapist with Spectrum Health and is one of a handful of Neurological Clinical Specialists in Michigan.

Susan Barrett Tater
Wife. Mom of 2. Runner. World traveler. New to running but not new to adventure, Susan brings experience as the Battle on the Boardwalk 5k Fun Run director to Brainy Day, joining our team in 2018. She is proud to have completed her first marathon in May of 2018 – mostly because of peer pressure from fellow Grand Haven Running Club members and Oiselle teammates!
