Becoming a Race Partner

I am always asked why I choose to support the Brainy Day Trail Run & Fund. Prior to 2013, I had never heard of hydrocephalus. Then I met Veronica Constantine at a local kids triathlon and everything changed. I was compelled to help her as much as I could because the fact of the matter is that this incurable condition affects more than 1 million Americans and approximately 1 in every 1,000 births (making it as common as Down Syndrome).

The amount of fundraising we are able to do here in West Michigan can make a big difference for families who are affected by this condition. With your help, we’d like to do more.  By partnering with us to fully support the annual Brainy Day Trail Run, 100% of fees collected by runners can be donated to the Brainy Day Fund. With this in mind, we have set a 2019 fundraising goal of $10,000.

I hope you’ll take a look at the information we’ve provided below. If you’d like to partner with us or make a donation, please email me at info@brainydayfund.org.

2019 Race Director

2018 was a RECORD Year

In 2018, we made a lot of changes to improve the race experience. We added a Finisher’s Medal, Post-Race party, and we increased our advertising budget. Not only did we increase our race participation, but we also increased the visibility of the race across the region. As a result, in 2019, we’re looking to attract more than 600 runners.

Growing the Race

Prior to 2018, we relied heavily on local running groups for participation. In 2018, the goal was to increase local visibility and broaden our exposure in “runner-heavy” markets like Grand Rapids and Holland. Using Outdoor Billboard and Facebook advertising, we succeeded in our mission.

In 2019, we plan on leveraging top-performing advertising & marketing strategies from 2018 to continue reaching runners outside a 15-mile radius of Nunica. We believe this is our best opportunity for sustaining the race for many years to come.
