About the Brainy Day Fund

In 2015, we established The Brainy Day Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to raise money in an effort to help those affected by hydrocephalus. Our goal was to not only help families, but also create research grants for medical professionals looking to end hydrocephalus. For the past two years, we’ve been working to develop programs that we can manage as a small organization, that can also be very helpful to the community.

Thanks to the guidance of the Hydrocephalus Association, we have decided to launch two programs in 2018. First, we’re going to start a scholarship program for graduating high school seniors in Michigan living with hydrocephalus. And second, we’re going to launch a research grant program.

As you read about our founder’s mission to make a difference after her own diagnosis of hydrocephalus as an adult in 2007, our organization is all about making people aware of hydrocephalus. We’ve raised more than $100,000 since our first race in 2007 and our goal is to double that by 2025. We would love the opportunity to help as many children heading off to school as possible, at the same time helping scientists find a more reliable way to manage hydrocephalus and continue to explore how to cure this condition.

A third program that we’re still working on launching is an education platform. We want to reach as many medical professionals in Michigan who have patients with hydrocephalus. We want them to be made aware of the resources we provide as well as that of the Hydrocephalus Association.
